India Exempts Solar and Wind Plants for Green Hydrogen Production from ALMM and RLMM Requirements

-The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy issued a memorandum exempting solar and wind energy plants dedicated to green hydrogen production from ALMM and RLMM requirements.

-This exemption applies to plants located in Special Economic Zones (SPZ) or set up as Export Oriented Units for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives.

-The goal is to meet the target of producing 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030 at a viable cost.

-The exemption is valid for all plants set up until December 2030, potentially requiring over 25 GW of solar and wind capacities.

-Major Indian corporations, including Reliance, Adani, and oil and gas majors, are investing heavily in green hydrogen, aiming to reduce costs to $1 per kg by 2030.
